For years, Chula Vista has struggled to meet the ever-increasing public safety needs, putting many of our communities at risk. We deserve better. Every resident in Chula Vista should be able to rest assured that respond times from our police department and fire department are as short as possible. Every resident in Chula Vista should always be able to feel safe in their neighborhood. As a councilmember, I will work with our community leaders and law enforcement to identify the critical public safety needs in Chula Vista so that we can implement a solution and outcome driven plan for increasing public safety. I will ensure that we build positive relationships between our community and law enforcement, because when we work together, we are all safer. Investing in public safety is more than new facilities and equipment. It is investing in our officers and fire fighters to ensure that they have all the tools, training and resources necessary to do their job effectively.
Revitalizing District 4
Our Chula Vista District 4 communities are some of the most culturally rich in all of California. Our communities are diverse, full of history and rich in culture. Unfortunately, our district has not seen the investment and growth we’ve seen in other parts of Chula Vista. As a member of the Council, I will fight for our communities and ensure that funds are distributed equitably among our communities. I will work with local chambers, school districts and our business partners to develop an economic revitalization plan that will not only help bring investment into our communities in need, but also bring training, educational and job opportunities for our community. Our district is positioned to be a regional economic powerhouse, and as a small business owner and policy expert, I am ready to work tirelessly to bring the middle-class jobs our community deserves.
Housing costs are skyrocketing in our community, pushing many of our longtime residents out of their homes. My experience working with multiple levels of government and with countless local organizations has equipped me with the experience needed to bring real housing solutions to our city. Many of our students, families and veterans are now homeless. As your councilmember, I will work with our leaders to find innovative solutions to our housing crisis. We must incentivize the building of low-income housing and implement solutions to ensure that our middle-class workers can afford to buy a home. No one in Chula Vista deserves to be without a home, and as a Councilmember, I pledge to work tirelessly to make that a reality.
